Don’t let his surly expression in this mug shot fool you! I think, much like some people I know, Lucky just dislikes having his photo taken.

I have seen Lucky’s personality really blossom in this past year. His owner moved away and left him with us, and he had a terrible skin condition. She told us that it was contagious and incurable,  so he was isolated in a separate kennel and never able to play with the rest of the gang. But we got a second opinion, and it turns out his skin condition was COMPLETELY curable! He no longer has to suffer itching and baldness, and now has a lovely thick fur coat.

The best part is that he doesn’t need to be isolated any longer. He has been with the others for about 6 months now, and although he got bullied a bit in the beginning, now he seems to be friends with one and all. He’s an excellent guard dog: he doesn’t bark, but simply stares and gives a low menacing growl. As soon as I tell him to stop he does though, and the tail starts wagging and he is all love and kisses again.
