Blackie

Blackie’s age is a mystery to us; the vet couldn’t even guess, because her teeth are worn down to their stumps, and that’s the way vets figure out the age of a dog. Usually, that would indicate a very old dog, but Blackie acts like she is a puppy, so it’s more likely that she ate a lot of very hard food back in her pre-shelter garbage-picking days. She jumps and climbs fences that are 2 meters high, and I even saw her climb a tree to jump over the fence once.
She is extremely affectionate to people and other dogs, and can often be seen grooming the other dogs fur with her teeth. We have to shave her fur short in summer because Taiwan is hot, the shelter is in a jungle, and her fur is long and thick. Every insect or plant she comes in contact with sticks in that hair and makes quite a mess, but if she had a proper home and someone to brush her occasionally she would be a real beauty.
