      Mohawk got her name because of her hair, although you can’t see it in this photo. The fur on the top of her head and back of her neck usually stands straight up. It’s quite comical.

      When Mohawk was a puppy she had canine distemper, and although she made a complete recovery it did leave her with a curious twitch. Even when she is sleeping you can see her twitching. The vet says it is normal for dogs who had distemper, and it causes no pain or other problems. When we go out for walks she races along with all the others, and scrambles up and down the mountain slopes.

      She gets along very well with all the shelter dogs and is friendly with people, although she needs to get to know them a bit first.
